My dream as a kid was to play basketball in the NBA! I wanted to lead my hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, to their first NBA Championship. But life does not always turn out the way we think-sometimes dreams get crushed.
Every couple walks up the aisle with a hope and expectation that they will live happily ever after. Sometimes it turns out that way, sometimes it doesn’t. Or maybe you assumed you would walk down the aisle someday, but you are still single and don’t want to be. Or you figure that you will make it pretty high up the corporate ladder some day, and then you realize not only is it not happening, it isn’t going to happen. Or you have visions of your own child in your arms for the first time. Then the doctor’s report tells you that it is not going to happen.
What are we to do when life’s dreams are crushed? Are we supposed to keep at it? Give up? Trade them?
This weekend at Crossroads Church in Cranberry we will be continuing our series entitled “Comeback” by looking at how God can give us a new dream when all seems lost. In Luke 24 two followers of Jesus were walking away from Jerusalem talking about the death of Jesus when an encounter with the risen Christ changed their direction in life. On Sunday we will see that Jesus can shape our lives and give us a new dream!
