You Asked For it – 3 – How Can I Get Along Better with Others? (Cranberry 09-27-2015) from Crossroads Church on Vimeo.
That is a very important question because people can be the greatest joy in our lives, or they can be a great headache. If you are having conflict and hassles with the people around you, you are probably not enjoying life, even if everything else is going smoothly.
In this video we see that people can be difficult because everyone around us is flawed. Hurt people also have the tendency to hurt others as well so we have a choice. Pastor Dino Rizzo says that when someone hurts us we can curse it, nurse it, or reverse it by showing kindness and granting forgiveness. Take a few moments to read and reflect on Colossians 3:8-14 and watch this video on how to get along with others.
QUESTIONS: Read Colossians 3:8-14 then reflect on these questions.
SECTION 1:
- Name a couple of ways that our earthly nature is different than our new nature given by God.
- How would you summarize verses 12-14?
- How would you describe the main point of this passage?
- Which verse stood out to you the most and why?
SECTION 2:
- Why do you think it is so difficult to shed or remove the “old nature?”
- Which aspect of Christ’s character do you need to clothe yourself with this week? Is there a person in your life you might need to show kindness and forgiveness to?
- What action step do you think God is leading you to take as a result of this week’s message? What is one way you can apply this truth to your life this week?
- How can our group specifically pray for that step over the next week?
SECTION 3:
- Share about a time in the past when you showed forgiveness and kindness. What happened and how did that help you grow spiritually?
- Share about a time in the past when someone showed you forgiveness and kindness. What happened?
